Basically Bams is taught in hindi language. The books are written in hindi and sanskrit language. And one of the subject is sanskrit.
It has basically these subjects in the first year

• padaarth vigyan
  
• Rachna Sharir
  
• Ashtang Hridya
  
• Modern Anatomy
  
• Modern Physiology
  
• Sanskrit
  

The modern part is in English.
however for reference you can take english language books if you want to study ayurved in English. You can write any language in exam.

You can take Hindi, English or any other language as the alternative language but you must have a minimum knowledge of Sanskrit. The medium for imparting knowledge and instruction for various subjects in BAMS all depends on the region where the institute is located.

the language of course bams varies from place to place

in the northern belt of the country the 3 main lanugage for the course are Englisg , sanskrit and hindi.

in gujarat ,the course is also offered in gujarati language

in the southern region , the course is aslo offered in the native langugage apart from english and sanskrit
