Perhaps, many candidates who were unable to register themselves for counselling, JOSAA as well as CSAB organizes Spot Round to fill the empty seats in NITs and GFTIs after the final round of counselling. A nominal fee is required to participate in the counselling process, however there is a condition that, you should not have accepted any seat in JOSAA Counselling Rounds.

As far as North East NITs are concerned, NIT Agartala and NIT Silchar being the best two of the lot are at par with the Older and other Top National Institutes of the Country. They have good faculty, infrastructure, outlook and placements. As far as Newer ones like Megahalaya and Nagaland are concerned, they are newer NITs with not many facilities, infrastructure and placements. Another three good institutes in the CSAB Round is BIT Mesra and NIFFT, Ranchi. At you JEE MAINS rank of 41k, you can easily secure a seat in Mechanical, Production, Chemical, Polymer, Civil engineering at BIT Mesra, Manufacturing and Metallurgy at NIFFT Ranchi as well as Metallurgy, Civil or Mining at IIEST Shibpur. Perhaps you can also secure a seat at PEC Chandigarh in Metallurgical Engineering.

Perhaps at your rank of EAMCET, JNTU Kakinada and Ananthapur on the other hand are much established institutions and being located near IT and Industrial hubs at Hyderabad and Bengaluru further provide impetus in training and placements.
