Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham reserves some seat under state quota for the local candidates (belonging to that state). The cutoffs for those candidates are lower which gives them edge over others.  There are various measures to decide eligibility for state quota:

• He/She should be a native of that state.
• Completed his/her secondary and higher secondary education from a school identified by the state government.
• Parents should be working in some public/private sector institution under the recognition of state government.
