The Department of Financial Studies (DFS, erstwhile MFC), is a Business school listed under the prestigious Delhi University. It has been around for over 3 decades and has been an institution of learning for students who aspire to enhance their managerial prowess in the finance industry.

The cutoff for DFS is above 95 Percentile in CAT.

Placements: DFS has an extremely high Return on Investment. There are a few permanent recruiters that offer a very good package. Placements are almost 100%. Since the college is located in Delhi, location is definitely a big advantage. The highest CTC  offered to the current batch of 2016-18 is 26 lakhs per annum, and the lowest CTC has been 9 lakhs per annum. DeShaw, Crisil, Ernst & Young, Arcesium, Axis Bank, KPMG, are some of the companies that visit the campus for recruitment purposes. DFS provides assistance to students to get internship opportunities. The highest stipend that is offered is around 75000 Rs, and the lowest has been 20000Rs.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent, but not exemplary. The Wi-Fi facility is poor, and it takes time to get access to it. The library is extremely resourceful and up to date with lasts books, magazines and journals.

Faculty:  DFS has a good faculty to student ration. Most of the faculty members are PhD holders and have vast experience and have a great knowledge to impart to students. Pedagogy is strong on a mix of theoretical and practical learning. The course curriculum is designed to impart sound knowledge related to financial management, and all things finance

Other: There are lots of events and seminars held in the college by various clubs and committees. The 4 major clubs are Corporate Relations and Placements committee, Alumni Relations Committee, Convention & Organizing Committee, and Public Relations Committee.

Overall, DFS is a very good college for a masters degree specializing in Finance. The low batch size and low fees will be beneficial when it comes to placements. But DFS is a Tier 2 college, and if you have converts from Tier 1 colleges, please consider your options.

Hope I have helped you. Feel free to ask queries if any. All the best!
