What is the difference between preparatory rank and category rank?

Hi,

The prepatory rank is prepared for IITs of those candidates who have secured at least 2.5% marks in each of the three subjects AND at least 8.75% aggregate marks in JEE (Advanced) 2020 ANDare NOT in any of the other rank lists prepared based on JEE (Advanced) 2020.

The category rank is prepared consideerig the marks obtained by the candidates who applied through the category reservation.
