The cut off of any exam deends on the difficulty level of exam,highest amrks scored by the student,Average marks scored by the students,no of candidates appearing for the exam,And the previous year cut off trends.The cut off is different for different colleges.You can get the idea by seeing the previous year cut off trends.The cut off for NIT calicut for general category is 386 opening rank and 1475 closing rank,for other state quota,for NIT Hamir pur is 920 opening rank and 2325 closing rank for general category for other state quota.Likewise you can see the cut off for other NITs from the below link :
