The Process Is ,One cannot Change His/Her before Going Through Two Semesters.Then In Both Semesters One Need To Perform well or Should try to get maximum CGPA At the end of the acadamic year. Then the college filter Students  on their marks and also availability of vacant seats. I Hope It Helped .

If you are planning to take admission in Btech LE then you must complete a 3year diploma course in engineering and many institutes need an aggregrate of 60% in your Btech tenure .

You can choose whether you want to pursue your diploma after 10th or 12th

Then in colleges they have their entrance exams for lateral entry and some private colleges take students on the basis of the state rank

if you want to do btech course after completing diploma in engineering, you need to give a entrance exam which is conducted by state education authority. you need to qualify in the lateral entry exam to get admission in btech course. lateral students joins the btech from second year. there are state wise different exams. do tell me your state name , then i may help you.
