Hello Princey,

The CAT exams have a total of 100 questions consisting of both MCQ and TITA (type in the answer)  questions. It is a 3 hour exam. The CAT exam syllabus is divided into 3 groups and each group has important topics to be studied.

Here is an overview of the CAT syllabus for the year 2019.

Section 1:  Quantitative Aptitude

Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Ratio and Proportion, number system, work and time, hcf and lcm, algebra, profit and loss, quadratic and linear equations, inequations, geometric progression, averages, percentages, partnership (accounts), time-speed-distance, inequalities, logarithms and Surds & Indices.

Section 2: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)

Tables, pie charts, caselets, bars, line graphs, data sufficiency, series, proposition, blood relations, direction sense, assumptions, puzzles, coding-decoding, clocks and calendars, data arrangement, statements, family tree, binary logic, seating arrangement, syllogism, sets,  venn diagram and data structures.

Section 3: Verbal ability and Reading comprehension

Fill in the blanks, verbal reasoning, grammar, syllogism, sentence completion, para completion, jumbled paragraphs, contextual usage, inference, reading comprehension, foreign language words used in English, sentence correction, Analogies, verbal logic, different usage of same word, antonyms, one word substitution and idioms.

The syllabus of CAT 2019 includes Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC).

There is no official release of syllabus of CAT 2019 till now. If any changes will be there then it will be updated.so you should go through the syllabus and pattern of last year only.Do solve question of last years thoroughly .

Comman Aptitude Test

Cat is entrance exam conducted by One of the IIMs each year in the month of november

There are 3 section

QA,VA,LR

Quantitative ability-34 question,102 marks,3 marks for each correct & 1 negetive for Wrong

Third section is VA section.In which 24questions are on Reading comprehension,3 questions Para jumble,3 questions Odd man out & 3 questions on para summery..There is no particular type of RCs..You have to read daily newspapers,Novels,Business argicals,History articals etc.To be aware of different Jargons..& Do vocab from "Norman luis word power made easy"

CAT stands for common eligibility test. it is the gate way to get admission in top mba colleges of india for various decipline . however exam is tough compare to other competitive examination. it requires a lot of practice , dedication and hardwork.you can find the section wise cat syllabus from below link.
