S.V. Government Polytechnic is one of the leading polytechnic in the State of Madhya Pradesh. S. V. Polytechnic College Bhopal was established in 1953 and began offering diploma courses. The college has been the vanguard of continuous development in technical education since its inception. The growth of the institution has been sustained by the technical support from international community such as USSR UK Germany and World Bank.

Architectural Assistantship is the first course offering diploma education for male candidates in state of Madhya Pradesh. This was introduced in the year 2008-09 with intake of 60 students. The admission is on the basis of PPT examination and rules formulated be Directorate of Technical Education M.P. The community of architects is in very limited number that too concentrated in metro cities and smaller settlements are deprived of skilled service. Hence the pass out of this course are boon to these places where they actually belong.
