The positions mentioned in your rank card refers to the rank which you have achieved. There are two types of positions, local position and category position. Local position means your rank within the candidates who belong to the same state. Whereas, category position refers to your rank with in the candidates of the same category. For example, if you are from SC category and your position is 500, then it means you have ranked 500 among all the SC candidates who have given this examination.
