Currently there are only 15  AIIMS institutes in India which are functional and Tamil nadu AIIMS is still under development ,it is situated in Madurai district. It is expected to start functioning by September 2022 as per some latest news. The functional branches of AIIMS currently are AIIMS  located at New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Guntur, Nagpur, Kalyani, Raebarelli, Gorakhpur, Bathinda, Deogarh and Bibinagar.
