Yes, candidates can retake the exam 3 times in 12 months. The fourth attempt should be at least 12 months after the 1st attempt and 6 months after the recent attempt. However, students who have passed the USMLE Step 2 exam are not allowed to retake it unless the applicable time limit has expired.
