JNNCE was established in 1980 by the National Education Society. The campus of the college spreads over an area of 39.4 acres of land. JNNCE is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade B. The college is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).  The college is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Government of Karnataka. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The courses offered by the college are B.E, M.Tech, M.B.A, M.C.A., M.Sc. and Ph.D. The college provides courses approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
