Hello.

KCET isn't as challenging as the Jee, so if you have prepared for the Jee mains, you can score well in the exam. Get thorough with your NCERT books, KCET is more focused on the speed with which a candidate solves questions, so practice ample amount of question papers so that you can attempt maximum number of questions. There is no specific books which can help you with your exam, just keep solving question papers and get thorough with your concepts

Hey Karthik,

If you are preparing for KCET then you need to have a proper material by your side and a proper plan to get good result.

NCERT is the best book  for the KCET preparation, as the board will ask questions from the syllabus provided. First try reading and understanding the NCERT books thouroughly and then you may further proceed to other books. Along with your 2nd PUC topics, you must also be well prepared in your 1st PUC topics. You can refer the KCET syllabus by the board for easy and organized perparation.



The syllabus for the KCET 2019 is:



  • KCET Physics Syllabus:
First Year PUC Syllabus: Physical World, Units and Measurements, Motion in a Straight Line, Motion in a Plane, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy & Power, Systems of Particles and Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Mechanical Properties of Solids, Mechanical Properties of Fluids, Thermal Properties of Matter, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory, Oscillations, Waves

Second Year PUC Syllabus: Electric Charges and Fields, Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance, Current Electricity, Moving Charges and Magnetism, Magnetism and Matter, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves, Ray Optics and Optical Instruments, Wave Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter, Atoms, Nuclei, Semiconductor Electronics, Communication Systems.



  • KCET Chemistry Syllabus:
First Year PUC Syllabus: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox reactions, Hydrogen, s – Block Elements, Some p – Block Elements, Organic Chemistry – Some basic principles & Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental chemistry

Second Year PUC Syllabus: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, p-Block Elements, d and f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic acids, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life.



  • KCET Mathematics Syllabus:
First Year PUC Syllabus: Sets, Relations & Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Complex numbers and Quadratic equations, Linear Inequalities, Permutations and Combination, Binomial Theorem, Sequence & Series, Straight Lines, Conic Sections, Introduction to 3D-Geometry. Limits & Derivatives, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics, Probability.

Second Year PUC Syllabus: Relations & Functions, Inverse Trigonometric functions, Matrices, Determinants, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives.Integrals, Application of Integrals, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Three Dimensional Geometry, Linear Programming, Probability.

Few tips which I can give you for better preparation are:

  • Understand the syllabus well and try to stick with the one best material you get rather than referring to many materials.
  • Focus on the important aspects of every subject and try to complete each topic within a planned time.
  • Do work on your weaker areas and keep practicing mock test papers and previous year papers to have a proper idea of how the exam pattern will be.

There is no specific book which can totally help you to score a  good marks in kcet .You should have a grasp on the topics coming in the syllabus.You should must solve  previous year question papers,you can buy arihant publication or MTG publication question bank for this.
