You should go to higher education (b. Tech) it will help to grow you more or to get a better job or more chances to get job as compare to those students who come from intermediate.  If you take admission after diploma it will save your one year and you take directly admission in second year of b. Tech.  In my opinion of branch you should take admission in mechanical engineering.
