You can attend both. if you cant secure good percentile in the first chance in the second chance you can improve the score. Along with this, you can attend the following institutes/ universities entrance test.

Hi, I will suggest you to give both the papers. December and Feb.
MAT is conducted by AIMA four times a year.
It is conducted 4 times mainly to encourage students to prepare more extensively for the exam as it gives more chances to score better and improve upon the score to get a better b-school.
MAT September 2017 application process has started from July 3. The last date to apply offline is August 23 and the online application end date is August 26, 2017.
It is okay if you could not do good or as expected in one.
As you said you are working, keeping that in mind, after  you have 3-5 years of work experience or more then you apply for executive MBA or give GMAT and apply for MBA in India and abroad.

You will get various options as CAT is more difficult than GMAT.
You can plan up MAT and GMAT.
Therefore, there is no such difference between both the months, exam pattern or its difficulty as it cannot be judged.
You can apply in whichever month you are more confident to appear for the exam.
