Cardiology is a super-speciality degree. Your NEET-UG rank is immaterial in this respect. NEET-UG is conducted to take admission into the MBBS course in MCI approved colleges all over the country. MBBS is an undergraduate medical degree It would be followed by a MD in internal medicine and a DM in cardiology as the ultimate step. That is 2 more entrance tests down the line (NEET-PG) and (NEET-SS) That is quite a long way ahead. But I admire your clarity towards your professional goals. It depicts your dedication and commitment towards it. For now, focus on getting admission into a good medical college to start with.

I admire your interest in being a cardiologist and I wish you all the best in your quest for being a cardiologist.

The pathway for being a cardiologist is :

NEET UG EXAM -> MBBS-> NEET PG /AIIMS/JIPMER PG ENTRANCE EXAM -> MD (MEDICINE) -> NEET Superspeciality(SS) /AIIMS SS/JIPMER SS - > DM Cardio.

Pass DM Cardio and you're a cardiologist.

You can also do cardiology fellowships outside India and you can become a cardiologist after doing md medicine.

Well let me explain this to you in terms of cricket.

Cardiology is like representing your nation internationally to reach there you have to get in to the junior cricket league and play well there, similarly you need to get into a medical college and clear you MBBS degree  with good marks preferably in the 1st attempt.

After you do well in junior cricket you need to get into a ranji trophy team similarly u need to get a PG seat for which u need to give another exam Like NEET PG or AIIMS PG etc PG takes 6 years to complete. It is more difficult than Neet UG. For cardio you need to do MD Internal Medicine.

Finally u need to get into a Super speciality which is DM cardiology. This will be the most difficult exam ull have to do but this wont be the end of your journey.

You do not need to worry about your rank in NEET in order to become a cardiologist. The NEET is conducted for entrance in MCI approved medical colleges and for getting the cardio branch you need to score well in your pre-PG examination which is also an all India level examination.

Pursuing a super specialization course is a stepwise process.
First step is graduating from an MCI recognized medical college, for which you can appear for national level medical entrance examination, that is NEET-UG, or AIIMS-UG or JIPMER-UG. These are the three nation-wide examinations that separately conduct their entrance examination for admissions into MBBS course every year. Many other government colleges such as AMU, take admissions based on NEET-UG scores. This year, almost all the renowned deemed universities and private colleges of respective states also merged into this nation wide examination and conducted their admission process based on the NEET scores.
Second step is pursuing a specialization course. Since you've specified DM in cardiology, you need to first clear NEET-PG entrance examination, which is again a national level medical entrance examination, conducted for post graduation courses every year. NEET-PG conducts exam for admissions into 50% of the government seats from every state of the nation, barring Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The pre-requisite requirement of DM in cardiology is a postgraduate degree in either MD in general medicine or MD in pediatrics. These branches of postgraduation are always in high demand as they open the gateway to almost every super specialization courses. The duration of postgraduation courses is 3 years.
Third step is pursuing a super specialization course, for which, you need to appear for another entrance examination NEET - SS, a nation wide super specialization courses examination. Super specialization courses are also available in other renowned institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER. Clearing this entrance will fetch you a seat in DM cardiology.
Also, there are surgical branches in super specialization like M. Ch in cardiothoracic surgery. The list is immense. The duration of super specialization courses is 3 years.
Hence, after your clear your MBBS, you need another 6 years of education to call yourself a cardiologist!
