Hello Khyati,

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007.

In the academic year 2019-2020, CEBS will admit students through the following 3 routes:

  • Through NEST: Students will be admitted based on merit-ranking in the NEST examination.
  •  Through KVPY: Selection will be based on rank obtained in KVPY examination. If more than one student has the same rank, the marks obtained in the 12th standard will be the tie-breaker.

Category-wise distribution of seats under KVPY:

OBC category - 3 students

SC category - 2 students

ST category - 1 student

  •  Candidates should have passed their intermediate (class XII) either in the year 2017 or 2018. Candidates appearing in 2019 are also eligible. If the result is in grading system, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required.
