Hello Swati,
As such their's no problem if you go to college from Mondays instead of Saturday and not going for orientation.
But their are a lot of things done in the orientation day like you get to know your class and section, many societies of the college perform so that more and more freshers join that society, you get to know more about your college and sometimes seniors also give you a college tour.
In that you also know about your classmates
