Yeah that will considered as single attempt only and infact from next year you can be able to write those two sessions of JEE Mains and the best thing is that the best score among both these exams will taken as to be for the consideration for the admission process in various colleges. So overall you have 3 attempts to write the JEE MAINS from in that 3 attempts you have overall 6 chances to write the JEE MAINS.
