You should start your preparation from 5 th sem or before it depending upon your college schedule.
And you should not get distracted and focus on study means that attend all the classes and whatever is taufht to you in class ; understand it and don't ignore it like other students do ( they think that we will do it during exam).
Gate required only practice and concepts.
College Life is the most distracting and lazy life but you must be determined and focus and don't waste time .
Make a proper schedule .
First go through the syllabus and than prepare beacause many times students do extra which is the wastage of time and energy.
You should choose good quality books.

ECET exam is a state level engineering entrance exam.The exam will be conducted for the diploma holders.atudents can enter directly inti the 2 nd year B.E/btech/b Pharmacy colleges and state universities.

SECTION 2 : VERBAL ABILITY AND READING COMPREHENSION
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA :
Minimum 60 percent marks in class 10th and 12th for general and NC-OBC category and 55 percent for students belonging to SC/ST AND PWD category .
HOW TO PREAPRE FOR THESE TWO SECTIONS:
Take help from previous years paper of various other entrance exams like CLAT , SSC, CAT , CMAT, IBPS, NDA , NIFT ,NID AILET ,MAT,GMAT, XAT etc. ( you will find a bundle of questions that you can practice daily) . Your main focus should be to find and analyse logical reasoning ,English , quantitative section from these papers .
A constant regularity should be maintained for ENGLISH SECTION ;read editorials from Indian Express or The Hindu; make a notebook for difficult vocabulary and find their meaning everyday ; try solving error correction from various entrance exams mentioned above . You will find their previous year papers on various sites ( try SSC previous year papers because they have the most number of papers in a year and are easily available online ). If you are finding it difficult to score in grammar you can go through the concept from books of English of someone who is studying in school .It will help you because of the kind of detailing that will provided in that book.
To score in QUANTITATIVE SECTION first try clearing your doubts and take help of RD or RS Sharma of 9th and 10th standard, try Google Books or Pdf's of specific book. There are many quantitative reasoning books in Google Books with solutions if you do not want to buy books. Try You tube videos for difficult concept .
For LOGICAL REASONING SSC papers which have got loads of good questions from this section , for analytical reasoning purchase MK Pandey's analytical reasoning ; Competitive reasoning by Pratiyogita Kiran; Modern Approach to logical reasoning by RS Sharma .
