Yeah definitely a medical student can crack CAT and enter IIMS.The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
CAT is an all India examination for entrance to prestigious IIMs. Other MBA institute use CAT scorr as well for their admission Criteria. If you score well in CAT ,then it will definayely help you in securing admission in a good B-Schools.
the syllabus for an examination like DM infectious disease in AIIMS Delhi which is just limited to just 2 general seats is actually very difficult to predict since anything and everything out of the purview of infectious diseases related to medical microbiology could be on the platter for you in the examination
most definately the quintessential portions you must not go without covering would be virology and parasitology apart from the White domain of bacteriology with special reference to tropical diseases like tuberculosis in leprosy as well as pyrexia of unknown origin and their differential diagnosis along with different forms of infectious diarrhoea and pneumonia which are the common presentations with which you shall get patients after you become an expert on infectious disease
another domain way you could be questioned upon are the different relevant investigations and latest modalities in the diagnosis and molecular diagnosis of biological and parasitological diseases
you could expect to be questioned upon vivid domain of application based questions in the form of MCQs where in a clinical scenario will be put forward to you and you will be asked to judge which would be the next best step whether to wait and watch or choose a particular specific investigation for it or whether to re examine the patient such as in a case of HIV positive individual
the range of syllabus is definitely unknown and that is why you are aiming for something great leggings DM infectious disease but since it is just restricted to 80 MCQs within a period of 90 minutes so you should prepare yourself accordingly and know that most of them will be application based MCQs and you will need to know your basics and procedures thoroughly in theory as well as practical in order to be able to solve those MCQs in the stipulated period of time and cross the 50th percentile in a healthy manner to be called up for the practical session
for the practical session comprising of 20 months which would only take place if you come within the purview the selected candidates in same school supplies the number of candidates then the available seats, I would just recommend that you know your basic procedures of culture in autoclave and along with serological tests well because that will be mostly what you will be examined upon apart from identification of various microbiological specimens and instruments and of course some readymade test done for you when you will be just as to interpret the result and opine as a microbiological expert of infectious disease domain
for the latest information on the death lines of the application form dates and the venue and procedures for the examination you could use the link of the following document and sharing with you and I really hope that you are able to achieve your fullest potential and do really well by getting this esteem seat of DM infectious disease after a career you have pursued Nandi microbiology with utmost struggle and dedication
Hope this helps,thank you

i'm gonna tell you some last minute preparation tips, i hope it will be useful for your preparation.
first go through the syllabus and pattern well.then analyze your self i mean try to analyze your knowledge level in the given subjects in the syllabus.if you think you're aware of those subject's knowledge then your preparation will be very easy.after that, all you need to do is get and solve previous year papers.solve more and give many mock tests.you can use any free mock test websites and free channels to enhance your knowledge level.dont forget that this is only for the first category people(very strong in knowledge level and who are in need of practice)
for the next category people, you dont even have a strong knowledge in subjects.get all resources and important topics needed for the GATE exam.you have to prepare on it only.dont need to get panic and stressed, just chill and stay focussed.allocate some time(more) for this preparation from today itself.dont distracted to anything within this time schedule.you can concentrate more on the syllabus of aptitude and english.solve previous question papers.while solving those ,try to understand the concept behind the problem.that's it.
if you do this sincerely for remaining time, you can crack gate with decent marks.spend last one week or 3-4 days for revision.refer the following links:
