How to prepare gate 2019 exam ?

manisha.gupta 26th Jun, 2018

Here are some preparation tips for GATE preparation you can prefer.

Understand syllabus properly: You must be aware about the GATE syllabus, released by the organizing IIT. You must go through the section-wise and topic-wise syllabus of your chosen branch in order to know what all you have to study and what to avoid.

Solve previous year papers: Solving previous years papers is of utmost importance if you want to excel in the exam.

Weightage of Topics: it is advisable and important to study the complete GATE Syllabus, however, you can do a small exercise to gauge which sections, topics are much more important in terms of weightage given in GATE.

Resources other than books: It is good to look up topper and expert tips in this regard as they do mention the books or material they have referred to. Many GATE toppers run their own Facebook pages or blogs where they dispense advice and tips to wannabe GATE aspirants.

Remember the following points:

Divide the Topics broadly into Strong, Weak and to be read properly.

Next schedule your preparation such that you revise the easy ones along with the tough ones and the “never read before” ones. This will ensure you have a clear view of what is to be studied and how you are going to do it.

While many advise to check the weightage and study accordingly, it is really not the correct way to go.

Check the weightage by all means and understand the important topics but don’t neglect to study.

Make Short Notes while you study as this is will be helpful during revision.

Write down Formulae that you find difficult to remember so that they are handy for revision.

Keep the solved problems separately indexed so that you can refresh and revise later when required.

Analyse your preparation at every step.

Good Luck!

How can I prepare well for IPMAT??

Arushi Goyal 26th Jun, 2018

Hey

Some of the preparation tips are:

  • Focus on section wise topics: You should also know the complete syllabus.
  • Quantitative Ability: This section has topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, APGP, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Geometry etc.
  • Verbal Ability:There are chances that the questions on Synonym-Antonym would be a bit difficult, so focus on improvising the same. The rest of the topics include Para Jumble, Grammar, Fill in the blanks, Word usage, and Para completion.
  • There is no section wise time limit of the test, so be careful about the time management factor. Divide the time wisely between the sections.
  • Give mock tests as much as you can. It will definitely improve your performance and tell you the areas where you lack.

All the best.

Should I take a drop for CLAT? My rank is 1454 UG and I have be alloted MNLU Nagpur.

Monseiur Dave 26th Jun, 2018
You can try another NLUs like NLU Ranchi, nlu VISHAKHAPATNAM, nlu Trichy in vacancy seats. MNLU NAGPUR is in establishing phase, needs atleast decade to turn in tier 2 NLU, Dropping year for CLAT is risky because CLAT exam is most unpredictable one who knows next year your rank may fall down, you have 70k plus applicants... better to join MNLU NAGPUR or what for vacancy seats in last six universities.

Preparing for JEE will not help you much because minimum criteria for admission in IITs and NITs is 75% in 12th. In other private engineering colleges also minimum criteria is 60% in 12th. You should try giving exams for your 12th again and prepare for JEE alongside.

Best of luck!
