BCA or BSc CS which is better for preparation of GATE

Tanya Gupta 27th May, 2024

Hello,

For GATE preparation, a BSc in Computer Science (BSc CS) is generally better than a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) because:

Course Content: BSc CS covers theoretical foundations and core computer science topics more comprehensively.

Relevance to GATE Syllabus: BSc CS aligns closely with the GATE syllabus, including algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, and theory of computation.

Depth of Knowledge: BSc CS provides a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts necessary for GATE.

hope this helps you,

Thank you

i am a jee dropper. should i do BA together with jee preparation? if yes which subjects should i choose?

Tanya Gupta 14th May, 2024

Hello,

Yes, pursuing a BA alongside JEE preparation can be a good idea as it provides a well-rounded education and a backup option. In BA, you can choose subjects like English, which can complement your JEE preparation by enhancing your language and communication skills. Additionally, subjects like Mathematics or Physics can provide a strong foundation for engineering entrance exams like JEE. It's essential to strike a balance between your JEE preparation and BA studies to ensure success in both.

hope this helps,

Thank you

Suganya M 29th Apr, 2025

If you're planning to prepare for GATE 2025 Mechanical Engineering , the right strategy, syllabus awareness, and consistency are crucial. Here’s a step-by-step approach to begin your preparation the right way:

Step-by-Step Preparation Strategy:

  1. Understand the Latest GATE 2025 Syllabus:

    • Visit the official IIT GATE website and download the GATE ME syllabus PDF for 2025.

    • Key sections include:

      • Engineering Mathematics

      • Applied Mechanics and Design (e.g., SOM, TOM)

      • Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences

      • Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering

      • General Aptitude (15 marks)

  2. Plan Your Study Time Wisely:

    • Start with basic subjects like Engineering Mathematics and SOM (Strength of Materials) .

    • Allocate 3–4 hours daily if you're in college, and 6–8 hours if you're preparing full-time.

  3. Suggested Weekly Timetable Example:

    • Monday to Friday:

      • 2 hours – Technical subject

      • 1 hour – Engineering Maths

      • 30 mins – Aptitude Practice

    • Saturday:

      • 2 hours – Previous Year Questions (PYQs)

      • 2 hours – Revision

    • Sunday:

      • Full-length mock test + analysis

  4. Use Standard Books:

    • Mechanical subjects – R.K. Bansal, S.S. Rattan, Made Easy Notes

    • Maths – B.S. Grewal

    • Aptitude – RS Aggarwal + GATE previous papers

  5. Focus on PYQs & Mock Tests:

    • Solve 10+ years of PYQs topic-wise.

    • Take mock tests regularly to track progress and improve time management.

  6. Be Consistent & Stay Motivated:

    • Make short notes for last-minute revision.

    • Stick to a realistic timetable and avoid burnout.

comedk preparation guide is not opening

Ayush Madanpotra 11th Jun, 2025

If the COMEDK preparation guide isn’t opening, first try checking the official COMEDK website at comedk.org. Look under the UGET or Downloads section for the guide.

If the website opens but the guide doesn’t, try using a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. You can also try switching from phone to laptop or vice versa.

Sometimes, the page won’t load properly if your browser has old data stored. You can fix that by clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

i got 79.64 percentile in jee 1st session without any preparation,i belong to obc category. Can i do well in 2nd session if i prepare and what are the colleges i can get with this percentile?(b tech cse?

Devyani Prakash 19th Feb, 2024

Hello student,

If you've scored 79.64 without preparation, then you must remember that after doing good preparation, you can achieve wonders.

The second attempt can always be considered as a chance to do better and improve your score. So my suggestion to you is that use the upcoming months well to prepare your best. Study hard and you can do very well. Have faith in yourself.

However, based on your percentile, it will be difficult to get admission in any college based on the JoSAA Counselling. So giving a second attempt to improve your score would help you in getting admission chances in great colleges like NITs and that too in top branches like CSE.

If you want to check your rank range based on your percentile, then you can refer to the Careers360 JEE Main Rank Predictor: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor?

If you need more information regarding which colleges you would be eligible for based on your marks and details, then you can refer to the Careers360 JEE Main College Predictor: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?
