Hello,
It’s tough but not impossible for you to get a seat in a top-tier Bengaluru engineering college under 1.5 lakh with a KCET rank of 70k–85k.
But you might not get branches like CSE or ECE in the top private colleges, but you can still find options with less popular branches such as Civil, Mechanical, or Biotechnology.
Here I list out some private colleges where you can still check out during the final rounds:
Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology
Reva University (for lower-demand branches)
ACS College of Engineering
SJBIT (in later rounds)
So, these are colleges where you can check and get your seat.
All the best.
hi,
The college you can get through CET depends on your rank, category, and preferred branch. If your rank is under 5,000, top colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, and MS Ramaiah are possible. Ranks between 5,000–15,000 can get you into JSS, BIT, or RNSIT for good branches. With a rank between 15,000–30,000, you might get ECE or Mechanical in mid-level colleges like BNMIT or NMIT. Above 30,000, consider less competitive colleges or non-CS branches.
With your son’s KCET rank of 26,099, getting a seat in Electronics and Communication Engineering at KLS Gogte Institute might be difficult. Last year, the closing rank for that branch was around 19,000 to 23,000, which is better than his rank.
However, he can still try for counselling and see if any seats are left in later rounds. It’s also a good idea to consider other branches like Electrical Engineering, where the cutoffs are usually higher and might match his rank.
Make sure to complete the counselling registration on the official KEA website and keep checking for seat allotment updates. If this college doesn’t work out, you can look at other colleges or management quota options as a backup.
Dear Aspirant,
With a CET rank of 1,30,000, getting into top government engineering colleges can be tough, especially for popular branches like Computer Science or Electronics. However, you still have a good chance of gaining admission to several private engineering or polytechnic colleges, particularly in less competitive branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Biotechnology. It’s important to participate in all rounds of CET counselling and list as many options as possible to boost your chances. Some private institutions, particularly in Tier-2 or Tier-3 categories, often accept students with higher ranks. Colleges like Don Bosco Institute of Technology, AMC Engineering College, East Point College of Engineering, and T-John Institute of Technology may be options, depending on the branch and seat availability. If you belong to a reserved category or qualify for a state or rural quota, your chances of landing a better college increase. You can also look into direct admission options at private colleges or consider pursuing a diploma at a polytechnic institution as an alternative path.

With a CET rank of 185662, Amity University is a private institution, so they generally offer direct admission if you meet the basic eligibility criteria. For Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), you are likely to get a seat. The fee for ECE at Amity can range between 1.5 to 2 lakhs per year depending on the campus Noida, Mumbai, etc. You can confirm the exact fee by checking their official site or calling the admission office directly.
