Hello Veena,
According to the previous years cutoffs, marks required to get admission in BHU M.Sc Plant Biotechnology are about 180-230 for general category. Also there is no data to estimate the cutoff on the basis of ranks. Out of 30 seats in the course only 12 are for general. Regularly check the official website for the announcement of the merit list to make sure.

Hey Jagadeesh! For B. Tech course in Anna University you need to appear in (TNEA) Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission. Anna University is one of the largest technical universities located in the state of Tamil Nadu. The university is structurally divided into four separate colleges or institutions, all of them located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Anna University offers full-time BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch courses in various disciplines at UG level. 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. For BE/ B.Tech admission, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks in 10+2 followed by TNEA counselling. NATA score in mandatory for B.Arch course.
If you are confused between both the fields, first let me clear the difference between them and will tell you their scope.
Biotechnology is a vast field which includes various topics like biochemistry, immunology, genetics, genetic engineering, microbiology, proteomics, etc. It provides you with a lot of choices to specify during further studies. However, biochemistry limits your study to the chemistry in living organisms. So, you will have fewer topics to choose to specify for higher studies.
An undergraduate with a major in biotechnology can do his/her masters has an option from a wide range of subjects like bioinformatics, immunology, cancer biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, public health, etc to select from. However, a biochemistry student will have a limited number of subjects to choose from, such as medical biochemistry, toxicology, analytical chemistry, etc.
Biochemists perform research and analysis on normal processes happening inside the living cell like respiration, photosynthesis, apoptosis, etc., while biotechnologists research and create products like proteins which are used in factories.
Regarding jobs, a biochemist can easily get jobs easily at the medical diagnostic centre, disease centre, research labs, forensics labs, analytical chemistry labs, etc. A biotechnologist also may be employed by a lot of companies like food, beverages and medicines, etc . . A biotechnologist may have to master in specific fields during their masters/PhD level to be desirable for those jobs in some cases.
A biochemist has an average annual salary of $60,000 while a biotechnologist has an average annual salary of $70,000 in the US. In both cases, the salary depends on skills like molecular biology, research analysis, bioinformatics, etc. Also, with the increasing demand for the skill-set, the salary will increase accordingly.
Therefore, For those students who don’t enjoy chemistry very much, biochemistry would be a tough major as biochemistry includes a lot of chemistry, reactions, processes, and pathways. They can opt to biotechnology as there won’t be as much detailed biochemistry in biotechnology.
However, biotechnology will require having knowledge from a lot of fields like physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, communication skills, etc. So, you need to be creative enough to grasp concepts from different fields and apply them to your convenience to excel in biotechnology.
You can choose to study biotechnology if you are not sure of your area of interest during your undergraduate studies.

Hello Sir. Genetic engineers need a bachelor's or master's degree for entry-level careers. However, a doctoral degree is required for those seeking independent research careers. Relevant fields of study include biochemistry, biophysics or related fields. Genetic engineers need a strong understanding of scientific methods and rules, as well as complex problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent mathematical, deductive and inductive reasoning skills, as well as reading, writing, and oral comprehension skills, are also needed to work in this field. These professionals should have the ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software, graphics or photo imaging software, PERL, Python, analytical software programs, and word processing software programs. Additionally, genetic engineers should be able to use lasers, spectrometers, light scattering equipment, binocular light compound microscopes, benchtop centrifuges or similar laboratory equipment.
If you want to pursue a B.Sc degree in Bio Tech than you need PCB/Biotechnology as subjects for your Grade 12 boards. If you want to pursue a B.Tech degree in Biotechnology, you need a PCM course structure. Having Computer Science as an optional subject doesn't really count.
Hello Abhishek,
With this marks you can easily get Biotechnology Branch in UPTU. But you might not get admission in government college affiliated to UPTU based upon previous year cutt-off. You should not dishearten yourself because you will be able to get admission in top private colleges of UPTU which delivers quality education and good placements in future but do remember in UPTU everything that matters is only your skills.
All the best !
