I completed my B.Sc.computer science but my interest is to pursue medicine.can I reappear 12th exam with biology to be eligible for neet

thakurvishesh1 19th Jun, 2022

Yes, you can definitely do that, but no school will take you as you have already crossed a certain age limit set by most schools. However, you can do your class 12th exams again from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). However, it is not advised to do so as it would take really a lot of efforts as it is not a conventional path and not much people will be there to help you. But if you feel that this is the right thing to do, then go for it!

Hope I have answered your question. All the best!

Hi, I would like to know if Mathematics as a subject is compulsory for admission in BSc Biotechnology whereas I have taken only Biology, Physics and Chemistry for 11th and 12th and dropped Maths. And what are the entrance exams to be given for admission in BSc Biotechnology. For SRM college.

vyshnava kumar 18th Jun, 2022

Hi aspirant...!

Hope you're doing great...!

So, with regard of you're query. NO, mathematics is not required for a BSC in biotechnology. As a PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) student, you can also pursue a BSC in biotechnology.

The following are the BSC Biotechnology eligibility requirements:

Students who have finished 10+2 with 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from any recognized board/institute are eligible for B.sc Biotechnology admission.

Additionally, some of the most popular entrance tests for BSC Biotechnology admission are listed below:

  • All India Biotechnology Entrance Examination.
  • IPU CET.
  • Central University Biotechnology Entrance Examination.
  • Anna University Biotechnology Entrance Examination.
  • Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam.

I am providing you a link below so, you can check the career details of biotechnology course: https://www.careers360.com/courses/bsc-in-biotechnology

Hope this will helps you...!

i got total 39in chemistry 73 in biology and 55 in physics can i appear for neet and after passing neet will i able to get government MBBS college on that marks?

Shriwam Shrivastav 17th Jun, 2022
Hi Aspirant,

Greetings

NEET is an entrance exam for admission in courses like MBBS BDS BAMS etc

The eligibility criteria for NEET entrance exam is 10+2 from a well recognised board in Physics Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.

The percentage requirement to be eligible for NEET in PCB is as followed:

UR/EWS- 50%

OBC/SC/ST- 40%

UR(PH)- 45%

Since your marks are above 55.6% you are eligible for the NEET entrance exam wheather you belongs to any category.

But, getting a MBBS college will depend on your performance and rank in NEET and not on the marks obtained in 11th or 12th std.

If you are supposing for a Govt. MBBS seat try to score above 580+ as previous year cutoffs.

Anushri Varshney 17th Jun, 2022

Hi there,

No there is no need to have mathematics  as an additional subject in your class 12th for pursuing Bsc focused in Biotechnology  course. See, there is no need to have mathematics but the candidates must have physics, biology and chemistry as main subjects in class 12th for pursuing this course.

Also, the candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in their class 12th for getting admisison into a college for bsc biotechnology course.

Refer to this article for more detailed information  regarding course and other things: https://www.careers360.com/courses/bsc-in-biotechnology

Hope this information will help you.  Revert incase of any query.

So my daughter went through all the IISER institutes and now is really interested in going to either IISER Pune or Trivandrum. Can someone please let me know the differences between these institutes specific to Biology?

Vishwathiga J 26th Jul, 2022

Dear aspirant,

IISER-TVM and Pune both offer five-year BS-MS Dual degrees. There are a few differences though.

In IISER-TVM you'll have to do all courses (Physics, chemistry, math and biology) for four semesters and you'll have to pick a major in the third year (fifth semester). These are basic introductory courses and in IISER Pune this happens only for the first three semesters after which you'll get to pick two disciplines as pre major choice for one semester and then move on to one discipline for major coursework. You have the liberty of not choosing a major in IISER-Pune. You can take courses to fulfill the credits and you'll graduate with a BS-MS in Science instead of a BS MS in biology/ physics/math/chemistry. This option is not available in TVM. Other than that everything else like is almost similar between both the institutions.

Hope this helps.

I have done my 12th from Karnataka State board. I attended 5 subjects due to health issues i missed Biology exam. passed all the other 5 sub. Bio is pending.Supplementary exam is in August. I want to apply for BA in IGNOU. But I dont have 12th new mark sheet as supplmentry is not yet done wht 2 do?

pdwords Student Expert 26th Jul, 2022

Hello,

When you're filling the application form for IGNOU then you will be required to submit your mark sheet, there is no scope for provisional admission here, what you can do is IGNOU does offer extension in terms of admission date, so if your exams gets concluded within this time, and you get your complete results, you can apply for the same, else you can wait out for December when application form for January 2023 will get released, other than this if you want to opt for other universities in distance mode, and if there is time left to apply for the same you can consider this as well.
