Correct process for becoming Chartered accountant as my daughter is studying in intermediate and she will complete 12 on year 2020.

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 23rd Jan, 2019
Dear Sanjay, ICAI has made major changes to its curriculum. What previously was known as CA CPT is now known as CA Foundation. The other phases are CA Intermediate and CA Final. To start her journey, your daughter should be registered with ICAI to be eligible to appear for CA Foundation.
CA Foundation: While there is no particular stream in which students should have pursued their studies, it is mandate to have passed 10+2 to be eligible for CA Foundation. There is a 4 month study period that is mandatory and needs to be completed before appearing for the exams. There are 4 papers in this exam and to be qualified its important to pass in all the papers with a minimum aggregate of 40% individually and a total aggregate of 50%. 2 papers are Objective type and 2 papers are Subjective type with negative marking for 2 papers. The subjects are Principles and Practises of Accounting, Business alaw & Business Corrsspondence and Reporting, Business Mathematics & Logical reasoning and Statistics, Business Economics & Business Commercial and Knowledge. For example, the score should be 40/40/40/40 in every subject and 50% overall. Even of she gets 50% or above overall but doesnt get 40% in any one subject, she doesn't qualify. She is considered failed. And in the same manner, even if she passes all subjects but scores less than 50% over all, again she is considered failed.
CA Intermediate:  This is the 2nd level of becoming a CA. There are 2 routes for this phase. One is completing CA Foundation and the other is a direct entry.  Graduates/Post graduates of Commerce/Non Commerce background can directly join CA Intermediate provided they clear their qualifying examination with the required aggregate. You need to get her registered for CA Intermediate for both the ways. There are 8 papers in CA Intermediate that are both Subjective and Objective type. And the same pass rule applies here as well. Should score above 40 in each subject with an average aggregate of 50%. The subjects are divided into 2 groups. Group 1 has Accounting, Corporate Laws and other Laws, Cost and Management Accounting, Taxation. Group 2 has Advanced Accounting, Auditing and Assurance Enterprise Informations Systems and Strategic Management  and Financial Management and Economucs for Finance.
CA Final: The Chartered Accountants Final Exam has 2 groups namely Group 1 and Group 2. Group 1 has Fiancial Reporting, Strategic Financial Management, Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics, Corporate and Allied Laws. Group 2 has Advanced Management Accounting, Information Systems Control and Audit, Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws. The eligibility is that she should have passed her CA Intermediate and registered with ICAI. She should have completed the mandatory 12 months Practical Training or Articleship or should be in the 12th month of training by the time of examinations. And the pass rule applies here as well. Hope this helps. This information is relevant until ICAI modifies its curriculum. Because your daughter has 2 more years to start her CA programme, we would request you to go through the official website when she is ready.

Hello sir Iam a B.com student & Iam planning to do CA but I dont no the procedure so tell me

Srishti Mehta 22nd Jan, 2019

Hello Kartik

For starting your profession as CA you first have to clear the entrance exam conducted by ICAI called Common proficiency test (CPT). Before that you need to get yourself registered in ICAI to be eligible to give the June attempt of the same exam. You can visit their site and complete the registrations. Registrations are open till last week of February.

After that in April you need to apply for the CPT exam if you want to give the June attempt.

For the syllabus and some more information on the basis of previous years you can check the following link

I AM INTERESTED IN STUDYING CA.I AM STUDYING 12 IN MPC. WHAT CAN I DO NOW TO JOIN CA

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 21st Jan, 2019
Hello,

Here's what you need to know :

First you will have to register for Intermediate only after passing (10+2) examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law and also after passing CPT (Common Proficiency Test) or CA Foundation (introduced by ICAI as per the new scheme).
Also there is direct entry route through which a candidate can enroll for Intermediate directly without going through Either CPT or CA Foundation.
Students who are Graduate/ Post Graduate in Commerce and secured a minimum of 55% can register directly for Intermediate without passing CA  Foundation or CPT.
Similarly like Commerce Graduates, Non commerce Graduates/ Post Graduates can also register for Intermediate by securing 60% marks in Graduation/ Post Graduation.

For more detailed information and other orovesses follow the link below.

I hope this helps.

I am a commerce student b.com(h) du and want to become a CA and also become a IAS but when i am hearing about both are tough what should i d

Anmol Vig 9th Jan, 2019

Hi Prabhat. You should consider that what all is required in preparing for both CA and IAS officer. For eg: for being CA, you need to go through all the books of accountancy and should be aware of all the new rules and regulations related to companies, partnership, etc. and for the preparation of the exam of IAS, you need to enhance your general knowledge, read newspapers on regular basis, maintain your physical health etc.

You should make a list of what all you need to do for being a CA and what all is required for IAS. And after examining the lists, you should compare the lists and  find out which all things interest you and what are the things you can actually do. This way you'll be able to decide what to do and what not to.
