After your 10th or 12 th you can take culinary courses like diploma, degree, masters.Certification is not that mandatory in India but still if you have that that would help in future competence.

Diploma in culinary will gives you more exposure as well. So after 12 th you can take diploma.

Or you can take BA and after that MA if you are interested.

Or you can start your journey as Commis Chef in any restaurant. This practical exposure will give you more opportunities

On learning if you have guidance of a good chef mentor you can learn new techniques as well.Work experience is very important.

Well, let us get straight back to the question that how to become a chef .

See, after you pass 10 + 2, there are many courses that is offered across many hotel management institutes across the country, these courses are of mostly 3 years in form of diploma or bachelor's degree. All these comes under the major stream known as catering technology & culinary arts.

At the Bachelor level, it is always advised to start off with a Full Time Hotel Management Degree (B.HM), whichever specialization you maybe interested in.
