We know about subjects or disciplines of human knowledge that we study in schools and universities Science, commerce, humanities Arts Etc I want to know exactly how many areas of knowledge are there in total I mean a list of all the disciplines of knowledge in all universities of the world

monag2673 19th Jul, 2024

There isn't a definitive list with an exact number of all disciplines of knowledge offered at universities around the world. This is because knowledge itself is constantly evolving, and new fields of study are emerging all the time. However, there are broad categories that encompass many of the disciplines offered at universities. Here's a breakdown of some of the major ones:

  • Humanities - This field explores human history, culture, language, philosophy, and religion. Some examples of disciplines within the humanities include history, literature, linguistics, philosophy, religious studies, and visual arts.
  • Social Sciences - These disciplines examine society and human behavior. Examples include anthropology, economics, political science, psychology, and sociology.
  • Natural Sciences - This broad category focuses on the physical world and its phenomena. Examples include astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences.
  • Formal Sciences - These disciplines use logic and symbols to understand structure and relationships.  They include mathematics, computer science, statistics, and logic.
  • Professions and Applied Sciences - These fields apply knowledge from other disciplines to solve practical problems. Examples include engineering, medicine, law, education, agriculture, and business.

Keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list, and there is a significant amount of overlap between these categories.  For instance, environmental science combines aspects of natural sciences and social sciences.

Each university will have its own unique focus and strengths, and the specific disciplines offered will vary depending on factors like location, size, and research focus.

hope this helps you!!

hi, for specially abled exception- i am getting apprvoval to replace maths with other optional subject. so will i be able to take commerce in 11th if i dont study maths in 9th and 10th

Nitin Kumar 6th Jun, 2024

There is a good chance you can take Commerce in 11th grade even if you didn't study Maths in 9th and 10th, as long as you have approval for a substitute subject due to being specially abled.

While specific requirements might vary slightly depending on the board or college, Commerce in 11th grade typically requires students to have studied Mathematics in 9th and 10th. This is because Maths forms a foundation for some Commerce subjects like Statistics and Accountancy.

since you have special needs and approval to replace Maths with another subject, this changes things. The fact that you have this official approval due to being specially abled should supersede the general Maths requirement for Commerce.

I hope it helps!

What is the admission process for 11th commerce, aided, cut off required for aided and is reserve quota for defence

SUKRITI GUPTA 30th Apr, 2025

The admission process for 11th Commerce in aided colleges generally involves a merit-based system, primarily relying on your marks obtained in the 10th standard or equivalent examination. The process is usually centralized at the state level, with online registration being a common first step. You'll likely need to fill out an application form, specifying your preferred aided colleges offering the Commerce stream. After the application window closes, the education department or the individual colleges will release merit lists based on the cut-off marks. If your marks meet the cut-off for a particular aided college, you'll be called for document verification and subsequent admission. Keep an eye on the official education board websites of your state for the exact schedule and guidelines.

The cut-off marks required for admission to aided 11th Commerce can vary significantly between different colleges. Well-reputed aided colleges in urban areas tend to have higher cut-offs compared to those in rural or semi-urban areas. The cut-offs are also influenced by the overall performance of students in the 10th-grade examinations and the number of available seats. It's difficult to provide a specific cut-off figure as it changes annually and depends on the college's popularity and the general scoring trend. To get an idea, you can look at the previous year's cut-off lists for the aided colleges you are interested in, which are often available on the college websites or the state education portals after the merit lists are released.

Regarding a reservation quota for defence personnel in 11th Commerce admissions in aided colleges, yes, there is usually a reservation for wards of defence personnel in many states in India. The percentage of seats reserved can vary based on the state government's policies. To avail this quota, you will typically need to provide relevant certificates, such as the service certificate of your parent from a competent authority in the defence services. During the admission process, you would need to indicate that you are applying under the defence quota and submit the required documents for verification. The specific details about the percentage of reservation and the required documentation will be mentioned in the official admission guidelines released by the state education department or the individual aided colleges.
