Dear Kajal,
Firstly, for an competitive or entrance exam, general knowledge is considered to be a crucial section which most of us avoid and focus more on analytical and logical section of the test. This is where most of us lose marks that can help us increasing our percentile.
In any competitive exam, the type of questions one can expect are mostly based on current affairs. For instance, if 80% of the questions are regarding current affairs then remaining 20% is about history and other domain. But, most of the test patterns specify that the general knowledge questions will be based on current affairs on their website or link.
Hi Crystal,
In earlier days, there are equal weightage of GK and current affair. But nowadays mostly questions are from current affairs only,at max there will be 2-3 GK questions. So,you should study current affair.
And if you ask about current affair then current affair will be asked from 1 year old news paper.Ways to prepare for current affair are:-
1-Previous year paper.
2-News paper.
3-Monthly Magazine.
4-Current affair website.
5-Annual Compendiums.
And most important make notes of it.
Hope this will help, please feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank You.

Hello,
I can suggest you some tips which will help you in preparing better for the same:
1. Check out the last year questions papers: it will help you to analyze a pattern and types of questions they ask in the Paper.
2. Take all the monthly magazine for the whole year: this will help you to read the news faster.
3. Check out the current affairs website/e-paper to get bulletins or short summary of the affairs.
4. Write down notes (but it might take longer time so do it as per the time limit)
5. Make sure that you complete a good amount of reading in a day. Do not go on for reading and remembering the whole news. Look out for a pattern of reading the current affairs which will help you in the exam as you have less time and a lot of syllabus to cover.
