The energy in the earth state of a hydrogen atom is -13.6 ev. So the energy in the second excited state of he + ion is _____ ev.

Aditya 31st Aug, 2021

Hi aspirant,

For second excited state:

n=3 , We know that energy of a particle in an energy level is given by -13.6*z^2/n^2.

Therefore the energy of He+ ion  in second excited stage is: -13.6*2^2/3^2 = -54.4/9 = -6.04 eV.

Note- For helium, atomic number (z=2)

Hope it helps!!

Assertion: The two bodies of masses M and m (M > m) are allowed to fall from the same height if the air resistance for each be the same then both the bodies will reach the earth simultaneously. Reason : For same air resistance, acceleration of both the bodies will be same What is answer ?

Nitya 5th Oct, 2021
Hello
Answer - Both assertion and reason are false.
Two forces acting on the body of mass M are weight (Mg, where g = acceleration due to gravity) that can be seen acting vertically downwards and second one is the air resistance acting vertically upward.

Acceleration of the body
a = (Mg - F)/M
a = g - F/M

Since, M > m (Given) therefore, the body with larger mass will be accelerated more and hence it will reach the ground first.

who came first to this earth: Hen or Egg ??

Nitin Mereddy 30th Jul, 2021

As per my assumption the hen has come first then egg.

Because life start with one cell species like amoeba etc.

there are an analogy for it.A sculpture make first statue then make a mold(sancha) and after that make many statue by that mold . So mold work like a egg .

You might prepare for the UPSC Combined Geo Scientist and Geologist Exam, leading to a Geology Job with Government and Public Sector Organizations.

Other options you have are of PhD or maybe MBA leading to a career in Research or Management Respectively. Incase youre interested in Pursuing Government Jobs, you might appear for UPSC CSE, SSC CGL, PCS, Railways RRB and Other Similar Examinations.

After MSc., you might pursue MTech in Geology/Petroleum Engineering/Geotechnical Branches or related Industrial Disciplines from some of the Top Institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT ISM Dhanbad, leading to a strong Career with Industry.

I got Mtech Earth System Science and technology, IIT KHARAGPUR, what is the placement scenario and future scope ?

Abhishek Roy 25th Jun, 2021

You have great faculty, infrastructure and research facilities as far as Earth System Science, Mining, Geology & Geophysics Departments are concerned at IIT Kharagpur. Regarding placements  yeah you do have fair share of Placements with Companies like Halliburton, Schlumberger, Cairn (Vedanta) and couple of more Petroleum/Oil& Gas Companies. Earlier you had a lot more companies in this sector like Rio Tinto, but they stopped visitinh the camous since last fee years. Due to dearth of Core Opportunities, many even take up positions with Coaching Institutions, IT/Analtics, Startups and Edtech Companies. Many even move on to pursue PhD from some of the World's best Universities in US, UK and Australia and hence a strong career in Industry, Research or Academia. Incase youre interested to prepare for Government Service Examinations, KGP is the best place and your really get a peaceful environment besides a very strong campus culture and peer groups.

write differentiate between earth wire and neutral wire for 8 marks minimum 10 points. please reply me before 4 p.m. I have to submit my assignment please

Ayush 17th May, 2021

Hello candidate,

The main difference between an earth wire and a neutral wire lies in the main functioning of both the wires- An earth wire acts basically as a conductor that provides a low powered -impedance path to the earth and prevents hazardous voltages from appearing on equipment, where as a Neutral acts as a circuit conductor that normally completes the circuit back to the source.
