Saying this would be too difficult as both are great in their respective categories and talking about the scope than also i would say that both remains same. But from students point of view we can say that most students try to get in Endocrinology because it is related to kidney’s root cause rather than only end cause which makes it’s demand a little higher. Hence, now it only depends upon you and your desire that where you have more interest and will make you more comfortable you have to go with that only.
Thank you..
Hello Student,
Since you had already mentioned that you don't want to do endocrinology, my main focus will be comparing nephrology and oncology for you.
Career scope in nephrology: Candidates aspiring to become Nephrologist must possess a 5½ years MBBS degree followed by 2- 3 years M.D. (Medicine) / DNB (Nephrology) course. After attaining the Master's degree candidates have to do D.M. (Nephrology) to specialize in the field of Nephrology.
As a nephrologist you can specialize in pediatric nephrology and adult nephrology. Pediatric nephrology deals with the treatment of kidney diseases in children's. You can find jobs in various government and private hospitals, kidney and dialysis centres, and general medical centres.
The demand for care related to kidney disease and injury is increasing . For a fresher working in a corporate hospital in a big city, starting salary will be 1.5 to 2 lakhs.
Career scope in oncology: Oncology nursing is a great career for nurses who enjoy ongoing relationships with patients and their families. It has its own unique requirements—things that can tax a nurse both professionally and emotionally—but it also offers tremendous rewards. Demand for oncology services is expected to rise rapidly , driven by the aging and growth of the population and improvements in cancer survival rates, at the same time the oncology workforce is aging and retiring in increasing numbers.
DM in Endocrinology is a choice after MD.It is a super specialty degree taken in Medical field after doing post graduation.
Candidates who have completed their DM in Endocrinology are referred to as Endocrinologists. Candidates are trained to treat hormonal imbalances by helping in restoration of the normal balance of hormones. On completion of DM in Endocrinology course, candidates become experts in treating the following diseases: Cancer in the endocrine glands, Lack of growth of endocrine glands, Infertility, Cholesterol disorders, Hypertension, Menopause, Under or over production of hormones, Thyroid diseases Diabetes, ETC
I would suggest you to go for DM
Hope that helps.
See if you do DM then you will get more opportunities in the field of research as well as clinical facilities. But this doesn't mean that being an MD you have nothing to do and you can't earn. Being an MD also you can earn around Rs. 90k-1L per month being a physician in any Hospital. This is the minimum pay in general the annual packages remains to be about Rs 20 LPA which is great.
I hope this helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
Hi,
The duration of the MD program in the Endocrinology specialization is of 2 years. Candidates need to have passed MBBS degree from a recognized institution to pursue the course. Endocrinology has an excellent scope both in India as well abroad. Endocrinologist mainly deals with the 'hormone related problems'. Due to changing lifestyle, people are suffering a lot with hormonal issues. Apart from being a doctor, one can further go for research and doctorate level degree in the Endocrinology branch.
