Hello,

If you're looking for a career in mainly the domain of law, you can go for judicial service exams conducted by state PSCs, other than this there are specialist posts in banking sector such as by SBI, RBI,SEBI, IBPS to name a few especially for law graduates, other than this based on eligibility criteria of graduation you can appear for UPSC CSE/SSC CGL/SSC CPO/UPSC CDS(only OTA for females)/state PSCs, banking exams of clerk/assistant/po , or assistabt/aao in insurance sector, in certain cases like NABARD Geade B/RBI Assistant there is compulsory requirement of 50% aggregate, fir RBI Grade B Officer it's 60% aggregate however in rest if the cases there is no such aggregate requirement, each of the above exam has different exam pattern and Syllabus, so prior to appearing, get acquainted with all the minute details, and accordingly proceed ahead

Shweta Goel 15th Jun, 2021

Hello Varsha,

You can pursue Bsc psychology but not MA in psychology, as for that you need to have a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Eligibility criteria for Bsc psychology is:

  • Completing 10+2 from a recognised board.
  • Scoring atleast 50% to be able to appear for entrance.
  • Age should be atleast 17 years.

Eligibility criteria for MA psychology is

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in psychology.
  • Minimum 45% marks to be eligible to do MA psychology.

Different universities have different admission process, so both B.sc and MA are held on merit and entrance basis. It depends which college you want to land up in.

Yes, there are many government colleges offering psychology.

pdwords Student Expert 15th Mar, 2021

Hello,

The college which you have mentioned that is Shahgoverdhan Lal Kabra College, Josdhpur, if we go the official website of the college then it doesn't provide any such details pertaining to vacancy for teachers, generally if you want to teach in college, then qualifying SET or NET helps that is the subject in which you have done post graduation like English Literature in your case, if you specifically want to teach in teacher's training college, then  you can consider pursuing MEd further, you can contact the officials at sgktc@yahoo.com, sgktcjdr@gmail.com (mailto:sgktcjdr@gmail.com) or +91 291 2632851 or +91 291 2632088. official website is https://www.sgktc.org/

Is University of Mysore a worthy option for pursuing MA in English Literature?

anirudha vats 9th Apr, 2021

Hi,

Well Mysore university is good university to go for higher studies. Its a government university where the faculty and other facilities are decent enough to get higher degree. English language and literature is also okay in terms of faculty and other things but if you are getting better options then go for them otherwise sticking with this choice is also not a bad idea.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

Can I become an assistant professor with a gap of 3-4 years in between my UG and PG in English Literature?

darshita 14th Mar, 2021

Hello,

To become a assistant professor firstly you should have a master’s degree with minimum aggregate percentage secured to be eligible for lecturer profile:

There are no age limit criteria set to be eligible to apply for the profile of Assistant professor. Many students choose this profession after getting prior experience, which proves to be beneficial in getting the job.

Now for that you must take an entrance exam:

  • NET (National Eligibility Test) -- you must have a master’s degree with at least 55% marks secured from a recognized university, to be eligible for this exam.Once you clear the exam and receive the UGC NET Certificate, you can apply for Assistant Professor profile in reputed colleges and universities across the country.
  • SLET (State Level Eligibility Test)---- SLET is a state-level examination that is also conducted by the National Testing Agency. After clearing SLET, you will become eligible to apply and work with state-level colleges and universities.
  • CSIR NET--- This exam checks the eligibility of candidates to apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Lectureship (LS).

Hope this helps!!!
