English literature
Look BA in English is the under-graduate degree course of three years by the central universities. And English literature is vast set of epics, drama, plays, prose and poetry that let you peep into a particular genre or era of a century. In BA you are simply reading all prose and poetry, but in literature you have to read deeply about the English language origin, history and development. On the simple BA English base you can teach up to middle but with special English literature you can teach the PG students. And more important an honors degree in English literature is a specialized degree in that particular subject. It is more intensive and more subject focused.
Yeah! You are right. DU most probably blend the courses in BA English (Hons.). As per entire internet research , this is the only conclusion which can be accepted.
I hope my answer helps. Wish you all the very best for your future endeavors!

Hello,
English Literature mainly focuses on the study of authors whose works were originally written in that language. While , Comparative Literature involves the study of other literatures, reading in their original languages or sometimes read in translation. Also, comparative literature focuses on the study of the literatures of two or more groups differing in cultural background and, usually, in language, concentrating on their relationships to and how much they influences upon each other.
Both , comparative and english Literature have scopes accordingly.
For example, for English Literature, depending on your grasp of grammar and writing skills, you can become a Scriptwriter, English Teacher, Storyteller, Freelance Writer, Editor, Journalist, and you can choose from a number of jobs, such as teaching, publishing, writing, advertising, research or translation.
Also, for the students of comparative literature, they also gain experience in both the theoretical and practical issues of cross-cultural work, gaining a deeper understanding of intercultural and transnational relations that is increasingly vital to employers.
Hope that helps.
Both are good its depend upon the interest on that field
The comparative literature deals with the study of literature and cultural expression across linguistic, national, geographic and disciplinary boundaries . After graduation you can pursue for higher education or job like editor, publication hose etc
english literature it deals with the study of english text around the world. After graduation either pursue for higher education or job like anchor, script writer etc.
Hello, for any PhD interviews in general you will asked about your previous practical experiences or about the projects or thesis you have done. For English literature you will be tested to give your own perspective of a literature; how English literature can benefit the modern era; your favorite genre and about your career goals in this field.
Best of luck.

Hello Disha,
English literature and linguistics are both interdisciplinary in nature. You already have a masters degree in Literature , hence I need not explain about its value. It is more of an artistic and philosophical area in English. Whereas , linguistics is a more technical and scientific in approach . Since you are in this field you can very well understand the difference , so analyse it and decide based on your interests. As far as teaching options are concerned , with linguistics you may have better options in the area of language training than lectureship in universities or colleges. If there is a specific department dedicated for linguistic studies in any university then you may aim for that and accordingly complete you PhD in the same. So if you are very particular about a university lectureship position , I would suggest PhD in English because it has more scope in academics, because English degrees are offered in all universities . With linguistics , of course you can continue as a faculty in universities but it is more applicable in areas like language expert, training, foreign language teaching, speech pathology, therapy, you can be a lexicographer, editor or technical writer in good publishing firms etc. More than India it has better scope abroad. However , it all comes down to your interest, if you are very keen on specializing in linguistics , go ahead , teaching will always be an option in both ,so no worries. Under linguistics further specializations are neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, historical linguistics, pragmatics and language acquisition etc.
All the best
