According to the placement data for 2022 of GEC the total offers were 450 of which the maximum placement was offered to Information Technology Engineering students. The Electronics & Communication Engineering recorded 130  job offers and Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering recorded 80,49 and 18 offers respectively. The M.Tech students also received 30 offers.

For admission in the B.Tech programme offered by the GEC Barton Hill, candidates need to appear in KEAM Entrance Exam conducted by Common Entrance Exam (CEE). The eligibility criteria for GEC, Barton Hill is that candidate should have obtained 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics altogether in 10+2. After clearing the KEAM Exam with good scores and securing place in GEC Barton Hill cut-off list candidates have to participate in counselling sessions. To accommodate students arriving from different parts of Thiruvananthapuram city, three buses operate on three different routes. College bus passes are valid for one semester and provide access to the bus facility for students. The buses can be ridden occasionally at a cost of Rs.10 per journey for occasional users.
