pdwords Student Expert 24th Apr, 2021

Hello,

When it comes to the eligibility criteria for MSc Geology then it's passed graduation in geology or any other relevant subject along with two combination subjects amongst maths, biology, physics, chemistry so if you have done graduation in arts stream then you're not eligible for MSc Geology, and moreover you can switch from Science to Arts at ug, or pg level but the contrary doens't happen.

Dear aspirant,

For taking admission into main iims first of all you need to give cat exam and the percentile obtained in that exam would be considered for call from iims. But you also need work experience for iims like ahemdabad , Bangalore , Calcutta because it also has weightage. Rest is all ok as you percentage is good.

i m very interested in history how can i flourish my career on that !?

Namrata Priyadarshini 14th Apr, 2021

Hello Humans...

History as an academic course covers the study of societies, cultures of a particular time. It also helps in enhancing our understanding of the past. A degree in history can give you many skills which you can use in different fields such as Law, museums, libraries, and archive work, publishing, journalism and media, archaeology, teaching, and many more.

First I would suggest you do a postgraduate degree in History after completing your graduation. There are three different types of specialization available as Archival study, Archaeology, and museology. There are many sub-fields of these major subjects. After completing your graduation you can opt for the above-mentioned major subjects. A postgraduate degree in history can pave the way to many career options.

Here I have mentioned few career options that a history graduate can pursue:-

  • Teaching & Research:- Many history graduates share their knowledge with others by becoming teachers at schools, colleges, and universities. For this, you need to have a professional teaching degree such as National Eligibility Test (NET) or a Ph.D. degree. Many colleges or universities have combined teaching & research posts. With a degree in History, you can start careers in the writing and broadcasting fields. The vital requirement for these jobs is one need to be very curious about the culture, societies, and history of the world and fact-checking and present old details in an interesting manner
  • Archaeology; archiving & heritage:- Libraries, museums, and historical archives appoint history graduates to preserve old monuments or heritage. The work of an Archaeologist includes excavation. You can be an expert on coins known as Numismatist or an Epigraphist who decipher inscriptions
  • Museologists:- They are the specialist who deals with the design, organizations, and management of museums. Their work includes research public relations and administration
  • Museum curators:- They have specialization in natural history, terracotta, textiles, metals, paintings so on. If you want to become a Museum Curator then you have to have an aesthetic and artistic way of thinking with administrative skills. They maintain the record of each item such as from which place it has been discovered, its age, and the procedure required for its preservation
  • Archivists and Historians:- Archivists are the experts who work to preserve, repair parchments & paper manuscripts, and microfilm documents. They get work in national & state archives, museums, and libraries, etc. Historians do research on the history and communicate or present it in an interesting way. To become a Historian you need to complete your master's degree in History
  • History experts:- This job is in great demand. If you are planning to become a history expert then you can get a job at different media houses. And can undertake research works for jewelry, costumes, movie sets, and so on. You can also work as a research analyst
  • Civil service:- With a graduate or postgraduate degree you can apply for various civil service exams. You can opt for history as your main subject at Civil Services Mains exam

I hope this helps you if you have any doubts then feel free to ask in the comment section.

Good Luck...
