Is dual specialization provided by every B-school? I am actually interested in HR management. What will be a good combination with HR?

Akshay Kadam 7th Nov, 2017
There is no dual specialization in any of the b-schools. In most of the b-schools you get to do major specialization in one of the stream along with minor specialization in other stream.

In IIMs it is a little different as you are given a General Management degree and there is no major or minor specialization in any stream.

In almost all the b-schools you are being taught subjects from all the streams in first year then at the end of the first year you are given an option to select in which stream you want to do major and minor specialization. In case of IIMs again a little different you are given opportunity to select all the subjects you want to study in second year with min and max credits barrier irrespective of the streams depending on all your interest.

So this approach gives you enough time to figure out which stream is more comfortable for you and in which you want to pursue your career.

As you are interested in HR management then you can take it as your Major specialization. With HR for minor specialization marketing is one of the best option but finance and operations are also good. It will be better that you choose minor course in the end of first year. In case of IIMs you can select all the courses of HR and few other courses of other streams depending on all your interest.

Instead of worrying about stream, right now you should focus more on MBA exams because that is the first step you need to clear.

All the best!!

Hii, I am HRM student of DU 3rd year. I want to continue my study along mba in HR. Some body give better suggestions.

Akshay Kadam 26th Nov, 2017

It's pretty good that you already have a decent experience about the stream in which you want to do MBA by studying during graduation. Now to continue with your passion you need to prepare for one of the MBA exams (CAT, XAT, CMAT, CET etc.)

After getting a good percentile in the MBA exam you can apply for various top reputed colleges like IIMs, FMS etc. Few of the top colleges for doing HR are XLRI Jamshedpur, MDI Gurgaon, Narsee Monjee, Mumbai etc.

Then there is a whole procedure done by the college to make a merit list to call students for next round of interview and WSAT which is based on your aggregate score made by your complete profile (Academic records, work experience, MBA exam's score). Then you go through the second round and again a final merit list is made which is used to give admissions.

Anyway, that's a long procedure of which you should not be worried right now. You should only concentrate on cracking big exams like CAT and XAT with a very high percentile as it is a very high competitive exam.

All the best for your preparations. Work hard!!

What is the difference between MBA(HR) and MHRM? Which is a better course? Which course has the most scope?

Gaurav Shukla 1st Jan, 2018
Hello,
Both are somewhat alike.

MHRM is offered in TISS. You will learn a lot of role of HR in Social context. You have good scope to work in CSR works.
MBA in HR will teach you to learn things which are useful for daily HR works like recruitment/talent acquisition, payroll etc.

Human resource management personal statement and the motivation letter for master degree in human resources are the most common documents for the MSHRM admission. Some colleges will ask a for statement and other for the motivation letter. My friend works for the professional service that helps students in understanding the core basics of the admission documents, in simple words, whats really matters in the writing and how to really get in the HR school that you want.

You can choose anyone depends upon your interest.
Cheers !!

Hello Dhwani,

All the reputed  Institutes in India has eligibility criteria for MBA, students have to meet it before admission. General eligibility is that 50% marks in graduation from a recognized university and need to secure good percentile in national level entrance tests(CAT, MAT and CMAT, etc...) or admission seeking institutes entrance tests like LPUNEST, DSAT, XAT, and SNAP. My advice to you would be that try to improve the marks and go for an MBA.
