Dear Aspirant,
For admission into the Defence field, there is the NDA exam ,a national level exam conducted twice a year, that is regulated by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). It is the pathway for the students to join Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. The NDA Exam consists of a written test and a personality cum intelligence test called SSB Interview. The written exam of NDA constitutes two Papers i.e. Maths and General Ability Test. The duration of each paper has the time limit of 2 ½ Hours. The maximum marks for Maths Paper is 300 and for General Ability Test it is 600.
Some common guidelines for the preparation of the exams are:
1.Study Plan- You know your strengths and weaknesses the best. For the written test, divide your time on the basis of your clarity of the concept. You know what topic requires most practice. Analyse the complete syllabus and prepare the topics from basics. Having a clarity and strong base in the concepts will allow you to heighten your general thinking skills and answer the higher order questions.
2. Be updated with General Knowledge: The presence of a good general knowledge will be required both in the written test and the interview. It casts a good impression on the authorities. Be sure to be updated with the newspapers ,journals and articles.
3.Personality Grooming- Defence is a huge responsibility, hence all the candidates are required to be physically fit and maintain a confident and strong personality. Prioritise your fitness and health. It is advised to the candidates to get a medical examination done before applying so that minor defects can be rectified after being recommended at the SSB.
4. Study Material: Make sure you rely on good study material. Books that know the trends of the question papers and cover all the necessary concepts are recommended.
For Maths, refer to the following:
a) Mathematics for NDA and NA by R.S. Aggarwal for Concepts:
b)Study Package Mathematics NDA & NA by Manjul Tyagi and Amit Rastogi for Students of Every Level
For General Ability, refer to the following:
