Hi Sandhya!
After 10th choose any stream- science, commerce or arts in which you are interested. After completing 10+2 there are two ways to become a lawyer:
After completing any of the above mentioned course, you can enrol yourself in the relevant Bar Council and start law practice in India. If you want to study more, you can pursue masters. There is no direct way to become a government lawyer in India. The Senior Judges of the court prepare the list of the lawyer who is eligible and send the list to the Government. The ruling Government will shortlist the lawyers to be their public prosecutor. To be eligible to become a government lawyer, candidate must have experience of atleast 2 years at District court and 5 years at high court. Moreover, his/her age should be between 35-45 years.
Thankyou!
Hello candidate,
There is no specific restriction on the number of subjects or courses which you have to take in class 12th standard in order to become a lawyer if you are studying in Arts stream. After completing the class 12th you have to join the LLB course in order to become a lawyer under a 5 Year Course program.
So, you need to clear the Common Aptitude Test in order to get admitted in some of the best colleges offering LLB courses. So, keep topics such as General Knowledge, English, Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Logical Reasoning and Legal Aptitude strong so that you can score good in in your entrance examinations and get into a good college.
Hope you found it helpful. If you have any further queries feel free to post it here!!
Hello Aspirant,
After the three year LLB degree course that you take in addition to your Bachelors, you are eligible to be called an advocate in India. You can find internships to gain work experience. As a law degree holder you might have already undergone an internship either with a senior advocate established in his/her field or with a law firm as mandated by your college or university. Next you can enroll in your respective bar council. And simultaneously qualify in all India Bar examination conducted by the Bar council of India.
