Technically they both are slightly different.
Material Science Engineering focuses on materials like Ceramics, Metals etc. But Metallurgical Science deals with Ores and their beneficiations, washings etc and extracting metals from it.
Rest is same in both.

If you want to do engineering in Metallurgy then i will suggest you to NIT Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur is a industrial area. TATA STEEL hire too many engineers from NIT Jamshedpur. Also metallurical engineers works in TATA STEEL with good salary.
