hello there!

If you are from India you need to complete your Post graduation in relevant subject with at least 55% marks, or B+ grade or equivalent in 7 or 10 point scale CGPA. The relevant subject definition is changes as per interpretation by the authorities in which university you are taking admission.

Next step is to qualify the entrance test that is Ph.D. Entrance test or eligibility test. If you clear any othe NET or ICMR or JRF exams, then you will be exempted form the PET exam.

Then go to the university site and find out institutes of that university where you want to work and know about the guides. Approach the institute and enquire if they conduct their own entrance and or interview for admission. Apply there if they have vacancy. and then based on your performance in admission exam and or interview you will be enrolled.

The steps are

Post graduation in Microbiology or related subject

PET or NET or any other Ph.D qualifying examination

Satya Prakash Tiwari 8th Jul, 2020
Hello my friend
You do not need to do MBBS to become a microbiologist.
But if you can get a MBBS seat, then there is a a scope of doing microbiology in your postgraduate course.
Benefits of becoming microbiologist after mbbs.

  1. You will be a doctor licensed to do clinical practice and earn a good amount of money additionally.
  2. Medical microbiologist has huge scope in diagnostics business.
  3. You will be able to employ non medical microbiologists but you can't do vice versa.
  4. You will have an extra edge over what you study because you will be seeing patents at the same time.
This is the toughest but the most promising path to ensure your that future thrives in all aspects.

Thank you

panjab university.MSc Microbiology Honors...Placement guarantee n salary

S. Saha Student Expert 17th Aug, 2020
Panjab University, Chandigarh is a NAAC Accredited A graded College and it has been ranked at 26th position by NIRF among top universities of India 2020. Needless to say, Panjab University is one of the best universities in terms of Academics and Infrastructure. The course is backed up by renowned faculties. However, the placement scenario is average. As Microbiology is a Research based field, many students go for higher studies and they are also working on various projects around the World. Few life sciences organizations, Pharmaceutical companies, Fermentation industry etc come for recruitment and they offer around 3 to 3.2 LPA. Now no one can guarantee you a placement unless you make yourself eligible for that. Panjab University invites many companies for recruitment and through one or two processes the companies select a candidate. Now if you are skilled enough, and you can prove yourself eligible for a company, you'll surely get placed. http://www.careers360.com/university/panjab-university-chandigarh/msc-microbiology-hons-course
