Graduating high school (10+2) is the most basic requirement for getting into the police force in India. If you wish to directly become an officer after 12th and not pursue graduation, you can apply for the positions of Constable or even Police Head Constable. For these positions, the candidate should be between the ages of 18 and 25. He/she needs to sit for the recruitment examination conducted by the states, namely the SSC GD Constable Exam, State Police Constable Exams and the SSC CPO Exam.
If you seek to become a police officer after graduation, you can complete your bachelor's in any major to become eligible for the examinations. However, a degree in Political Science, Criminology, Law or Sociology can help you a lot. You should pursue this degree from a recognized university and make sure to score an aggregate minimum percentage of 45%. After earning a bachelor's degree, you can appear for several Entrance Exams, such as UPSC CSE (Civil Service Exams) or SSC exams, as required by different state governments of the country.
