What about petrochemical field for job? What about for chemical engineering? Which is best??

Anonymous 24th Oct, 2017

Petrochemical Engineering is  a specilization course of chemical engineering branch.  If we compare both the branches then chemical engineering has good scope in the future. Petrochemical branch has limited scope in comparison of other branches in terms of jobs. If you want to choose between the two you can go for chemical engineering.

Good luck!!

You can apply for GATE entrance and apply for PSU which will help you placed in government agencies in your specialisation.

There are many government job prospects in this field like in drilling & oil refining companies like ONGC, GAIL, Indian Oil and etc.

I have completed my graduation in petrochemical engineering.so what are the field in which I can apply for job.

A petroleum engineer is involved in nearly all of the stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production.

Petroleum geologists: who find hydrocarbons by analysing subsurface structures with geological and geophysical methods.
Reservoir engineers: who work to optimise production of oil and gas via proper well placement, production levels and enhanced oil recovery techniques. They use computer simulations to assist in the identification of risks and to make forecasts on reservoir potential.
Production engineers: who manage the interface between the reservoir and the well through such tasks as perforations, sand control, artificial lift, downhole flow control and downhole monitoring equipment. They also select surface equipment that separates the produced fluids (oil, natural gas and water).
Drilling engineers: who manage the technical aspects of drilling both production and injection wells. They work in multidisciplinary teams alongside other engineers, scientists, drilling teams and contractors.

Good luck.

Dear Mishra

Petroleum engineering as career option in India involves the study of all of the stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production. The aim of Petroleum engineer is to maximise hydrocarbon recovery and minimize environmental degradation.

Petroleum engineering

The prime motive of Petroleum engineers is to locate natural reservoirs of petroleum deposits. They work to develop more effective, cost-efficient methods of petroleum recovery through the application of principles from chemistry, mathematics, engineering, and geology. The course content of petroleum engineering comprises of the methodology of Oil & Gas extraction technology, relevant basic sciences, and engineering can be applied for the exploration, drilling, production, and refining of petroleum.
