Since in india you cant find good colleges regarding petrochemical engineering but there are some exceptionally good colleges for petroleum engineering and can help you grab exciting salary packages
hence if you would take my opinion petroleum engineering can help you carve your career. Well on the contrary if you want to pursue studies in abroad things will contradict that of India.

It depends on the notification of the concerned area/organisation/exam where you wish to apply. If they have mentioned it by quoting your branch's name, only then you can apply. Otherwise, you cannot consider yourself as a chemical student on your own. Generally, what happens students take the concerned exams or apply in different areas without taking care of the exact requirement mentioned.
