how can I pursue degree in psychology

Anonymous 17th Apr, 2017
Hi, There are rare chances to pursue psychology through engineering.
even if you go for this duo it can be a total mess.
I would suggest you to complete your Btech first and then you can pursue some degree or certification course in Psychology.
Both are different domains of education. Know your deep interest in one and move ahead in it.
All the best.

I have heard that psychology has no scope in India.is that true? I would like to pursue psychology

iam ssuhana 8th Oct, 2018

It has a wide scope and its less competitive field. After studying psychology at postgraduate level you will have many options within public and private healthcare, education, mental health support, social work, therapy and counseling. These roles may be advisory, research-led, treatment-led or therapeutic.

There are also a number of less typical roles for psychology graduates, including jobs in media and other creative industries. Overviews of these typical and not-so-typical careers with a psychology degree are outlined below.
Psychology careers in healthcare and therapy
Chartered psychologist
Psychotherapist
Social worker
Counselor
A psychology degree may also provide a good basis for careers in IT, finance, the legal sector, government administration and market research.
The best colleges for psychology are:
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences
Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Science

please let me know the best Psychology college in Delhi because I wanted to do clinical psychology

Neha Jain 14th Feb, 2019

Hi there.

If you want to pursue Clinical Psychology at the University of Delhi, then you should be going for South Campus.

In North Campus at DU, there is a course in General Psychology with 100 seats and in South Campus there's a course in Applied Psychology with specializations either in Clinical, Social or Industrial Psychology with around 30 seats.

So if you want to study Clinical go for South Campus. You'll get to choose your specialization in the 3rd semester.

To get a seat in the South Campus you will have to crack the entrance examinations for Master's in Psychology. The exams are conducted in the month of May and the applications start in the month of April. The exam is MCQ based and you are advised to complete your whole undergraduate syllabus for doing well in the entrance test.

For preparation of the entrance tests the following books might prove helpful:

1. Social Psychology - Arun Kumar Singh

2. Abnormal Psychology - Butcher (Pearson publications)

3. Industrial Psychology - Ghosh and Ghorpade

4. Statistics - A K Singh

5. Objective Psychology - RPH Editorial board

After the entrance exams, the meritorious candidates are called in for an interview. The marks of the entrance examination and the interview are considered for the preparation of the final merit list.

When it comes to Master's, there are no specific colleges. The classes are held at the University's Official Campus building.

All the best.
