Hello,

To be eligible for UGC NET for any subject , one needs to have passed Master's Degree in the concerned subject with 55% from a recognized University, there's relaxation for reserved category. PG Diplomas aren't considered equivalent to Master Degree Program nor it's a substitute for it.

What is the age relaxation for NTA UGC NET DEC 2019?

Hello UGC NET aspirants!

Before applying for NTA UGC NET examination a candidate must satisfy the eligibility of examination such as educational qualification, age limit.

Below check the  Age Limit for UGC NET JRF

Candidate’s maximum age should not exceed than 28 years as on 1st Jan 2019.

For SC/ST /OBC-NCL /PWD/women are provided 5 years of relaxation in age.

Candidates of research experience in the same PG degree may get 5 years maximum age relaxation provided they produce a certificate for the same from appropriate authority.

Candidates possessing an LLM degree are given the permission of 3 years age relaxation.

Check the Age Limit for Lectureship & Assistant Professor

There is no age limit to appear for UGC NET lectureship.

What is the essential eligibility to be a part of UGC NET Exam?

Hello

As per the official notification of UGC NET eligibility criteria , the candidates who are applicable on the following conditions may appear in the exam.

For General Category Candidates – 55% aggregate in master’s degree or Equivalent Degree

For ST/SC/OBC/ PWD/ Transgender Candidates - 50% aggregate in master’s degree

The Ph.D. degree holders whose master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in NET.

The students pursuing master’s degree or equivalent exam or the students who have appeared in the final year exam of their PG degree but their result is still awaited can apply for the UGC NET Exam.

What is the latest marking scheme for UGC NET?

Hello Ritika,


To make a proper strategy for preparation, it’s better to analyze the paper pattern of the exam firstly. By analyzing that you will get an idea about the marking weightage of the topics and the question types which will asked in the examination.


The upcoming UGC NET exam will be conducted by the NTA in December 2019.


UGC NET exam has two papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.

  • Paper 1 is common for all subjects which consists 50 MCQs type questions of Reasoning Ability, Comprehension Reading, Mental Ability, and General Awareness etc. Each question is of 2 marks.
  • Paper 2 consists subject based 100 MCQs type questions, each of 2 marks.
  • There is no minus marking on any negative answer in both papers.

To qualify the UGC NET exam, you have to score minimum marks in UGC NET which are as follow -

  • General Category Candidates – 40% marks in Paper – I and Paper – II together.
  • Reserved Category Candidates – 35 % marks in Paper – I and Paper – II together.

Yes, mock test papers are helpful in UGC NET Preparations. It helps the student to boost up the confidence and making the concepts crystal clear. It helps in evaluating yourself. Of course, time management is totally relatable with this because as much as  we solve, it helps in our calculation speed, approach to the question and comparatively less time after some attempts. It makes student acquaint to the exam pattern and leads to improve accuracy. Although candidate must ensure that he/she avail the mock test series from a genuine source and quality must be up to the mark otherwise it will not work.
