Work experience
Hello saurav,
To pursue M.TECH in colleges of India , you can opt two ways-
1) GATE Examination
2) Admission in private college
But by considering your CGPA , you are not eligible to give gate exam because their minimum eligibility criteria is 6.5 CGPA .
So ,in India private college seems to be an option for you.
Now In case of studying abroad there are certain criteria you need to fulfill:
1) An obligatory language test like IELTS ,TOEFL etc are required.
2) Most importantly an admission test that is GRE has to be given by the candidate .
GRE is a 340 marks test ,out of which 325+ scores are considered very good scores.
After clearing GRE with good scores you need to select University then all the official formalities are required to fulfill.
Hope this helps and wish you all the best.
Shanu, you may have decent chances at the following Institutions:
Lal Bahadur Shasthri Institute of Management, Delhi: 92 percentile
Xavier Institute: 91 percentile
Loyala Institute of Business Management: 90 percentile
IMT, Ghaziabad: 90 percentile
BIT, Mesra: 90 percentile
Goa Institute of Management: 90 percentile
Pooja, SIBM Bangalore accepts a percentile of 90 or higher only. So with 80 percentile, I am sorry but you will not get a call from them.
A lthough you can expect a call from the below colleges:
Although please note that you can get a call from any of these institutions only if you had applied for it during the registration period. All the best.
Hello,
Work experience in some courses are mandatory whereas in others adds points in your selection process.in both the cases, if you have experience in a valid and recognized startup company the work experience will be counted. Moreover, the experience need to be justified by your domain knowledge, so prepare well.
Hope it helps
You have a great academic track record. 3 years of work experience would be a great add on to your resume as you will have a lot to speak up on but not all IIMs have work experience in the weightage for selection criteria. To get a call from 1st generation IIMs, you will need an exceptional CAT score. The observed cut off is around 99.5%tile for IIM-A. But there are very high chances that you can get selected in IIM-L, IIM-I, IIM-K or any of the 2nd or 3rd generation IIMs.
Also remember that GD and PI also holds certain amount of weightage for the shortlisting. And your extracurricular activities can also bag you a few points so do not underestimate them as well.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Meera Shingala
Hello Sonica,
Hope you are doing great.
Well, if you see the admission criteria of IIM Shillong, it gives on 25% weightage to CAT Score and 40% weightage to Personal Appearance.
So, the shortlisting procedure is based on your previous performances which includes Work Experience, Good Academic profile, activities and interests in co curricular activities. So, you may expect calls from IIM Shillong with low percentile also as you reflect good backgrounds.
So, Hope for the best !
All the best for admissjons !
Thank you !
Palash, this is an amazing academic profile that you put up over the years. With this kind of marks, we seriously doubt you would have a low CAT score. Neverthless, most IIMs atleast look for work experience of 36 months. If you are in your final year now and you have appeared for CAT and you have an offer from EY, you will need to put up atleast 3 years before you plan on getting into an IIM. We have 20 IIMS and each IIM shortlists candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs It shouldn't be more than that for IIM Ahmedabad. Here we shall try to help you with the selection process of IIM A,B and C.

After shortlisting the Candidates, the selected Candidates will have to go through WAT and PI rounds. Selection at this stage will strictly be based on the shortlisting of the candidates done separately for each Category ) on the basis of their Final Composite Score. . The numbers selected in different reservation categories will be in proportions mandated by law. Personal Interview Multiplication Factor (PIF) = 0.50 AWT Multiplication Factor (AWTF) = 0.10 CAT Score Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (CATF_FCS) = 0.25 Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (ARF_FCS) = 0.15 After the AWT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIMA to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in AWT & PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience, etc. IIM BANGALORE: For all the Candidates shortlisted, the 10th and 12th board results are initially adjusted by dividing each such score by 90th percentile score of that board.
