Work experience
Hie,
Congratulations for you commendable marks in your academics
If you want to go for IIM'S I guess you have to score more than 90% , apart from them you will get admissions is very good B-School offering MBA.
Thanks and regards

Sourabh, Articleship in CA Intermediate is not considered as work experience because that is a mandatory part of studying CA. So, for now we have to exclude CA qualification because you need to complete CA if you want to show CA as your educational qualification. And CA final year Candidates are not eligible for CAT. They need to complete the course to be eligible for CAT if they want to claim CA as their highest qualification. IIM Ahmedabad has the following rating scale. This is the same across all Categories:
10th Rating:
Percent score Rating Score
<= 55 1
> 55 and <= 60 2
> 60 and <= 70 3
> 70 and <= 80 5
> 80 and <= 90 8
> 90 10
The same rating score is used for 12th Science /Commerce Streams. For Arts/Humanities:
<= 45 1
> 45 and <= 50 2
> 50 and <= 60 3
> 60 and <= 70 5
> 70 and <= 85 8
> 85 10
As you did B.Com.in your Graduation, the minimum cut off for General Category is 77%. From each Academic sectors top 5% from each stream and each Category will be short listed. It might look like:
Category Upper Limit
General 100
NC-OBC-cum-transgender 57
SC 32
ST 16
PwD 6
After shortlisting the Candidates, the selected Candidates will have to go through WAT and PI rounds. Selection at this stage will strictly be based on the shortlisting of the candidates done separately for each Category ) on the basis of their Final Composite Score. The numbers selected in different reservation categories will be in proportions mandated by law.
Personal Interview Multiplication Factor (PIF) = 0.50
AWT Multiplication Factor (AWTF) = 0.10
CAT Score Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (CATF_FCS) = 0.25
Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (ARF_FCS) = 0.15
After the AWT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIMA to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in AWT & PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience, etc.
Now if you look at the no.of Candidates who are selected for General Category it is only 100. To beat the rest 99 for a seat in an IIM, you need have an impressive profile. As already discussed you have your CA in your favour. So complete CA Finals as well and meanwhile put up some work experience. That is the best shot at getting into an IIM.
HI...
Goa Institute of Management or more famously called as ‘GIM’/ ‘God’s own B-school’’ is a good choice- recently it came in top 20 emerging B-schools in India. The curriculum is a good mix of regular lectures, case studies, field trips, real-time assignment(for some subjects you work with professors acting as consultants for industry, government of Goa, etc), etc.
On fun-part, there are various clubs which you can join based on your interest and academic orientation (MECCA for Marketing, HRiday for HR and so on). In addition to this, the natural beauty of Goa in to be enjoyed with scenic background of the campus and some real good places around the campus to explore with your gang.
In terms of package, the average salary has been in terms of 8–9 lakhs pa and fees has been increased recently to 14+ but then there are several companies coming during placement paying you more than 15 LPA. Don’t forget the fact that batch size of GIM is 240 and not 120 or so as is normal in other B-schools(and hence low average salary in GIM). Also if you study good you are eligible to receive scholarship from the college.
Best luck
Hii,
Interview is all about how you repesent your skills and qualities to the interviewer.
You can showcase this to the b-school by saying that how you have increased the sales of your shop within one year. For example you can say that I have opend the small buisness shop last year and within one year I have increased the sales from 0% to ----%. Or you can give other answer similar to this. This will show case your buisness development skills.

Shreya, your freelance work can add the diversity factor to your Academic profile. Please add it under your work experience. Most IIMs or Top B Schools for that matter consider work experience atleast that of 2 years before they can consider you as a fresher. So if you have 1 year freelancing work and 5 months of full time experience as of now, by the time admissions start rolling, you will put up another couple of months. That will be close to 2 years. So, any experience that you have gained over the years adds to your advantage and so we would suggest you not to let that go.
