There are three possibilities.

1. If you are applying through NE quota (60% reservation for North Eastern students), it might be possible to get admission.If you are from SC or ST you may get to choose any branch. For OBC and General categories for this rank you have to be very lucky to get to choose a preferred branch.
2. You may take admission in any branch you get and later slide to another branch. For NE quota student branch sliding happens twice. Once before the 2nd round of counselling for NE quota(based on your JEE mains rank) and 2nd time at the end of 2nd semester (based on your 2nd semester results).Students who take admission through JOSAA or CSAB counselling, you can slide branch only after 2nd semester. Your CGPA have to be maintained above 7.0.
3. You may take admission in SS category(NE quota).Basically you will have to pay more money than others. Later if seat remains vacant you are offered to shift to normal category. Now if you don’t shift to normal category your sliding will happen in SS category only.
